Who are we? We are Monica Luke and David Jacobs. At the end of 2013, we founded the Living Assistance Fund (LAF). From our first-hand experience, we know that sub-acute care for individuals with psychotic disorders is extremely hard to find and is often prohibitively expensive.

More than 20 years ago, Ms. Luke’s son was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Ms. Luke and Mr. Jacobs have had to navigate the often confusing waters of mental hospitals, treatment plans, while simultaneously dealing with the lack of affordable care options that included peer supports, job supports, and school supports.
